SCARCE BLAKE FLINTLOCK MUSKET. Cal .69. 42” round bbl marked “U.S. / P.&E.W. BLAKE” on the lockplate in front of the hammer and “NEW HAVEN” in an arc over “1827” at the rear. Bbl tang is dated 1828. Two large oval cartouches are on the left side of the stock but are unreadable. Lock and bbl have been reconverted. The counter plate is also a replacement, probably at the same time. It has been browned to match the rest of the gun. The ramrod is a modern replacement. NSN. CONDITION: Rust brown patina overall enhanced in some areas. Stock has been heavily cleaned and waxed but is still solid. Action is good. 4-49869 FS31 (500-1,000)
