LOUIS (LUDWIG) NEUSTATTER (German, 1829-1899) THE PLAY BILL. Outstanding oil on wood panel scene shows father and two children standing on cobble walk reading theater broadside. Extremely fine detail indicating it’s the “Thalia – Theater”. Also five other broadsides are seen on a stucco wall. The young girl holds red umbrella under arm, the boy a large pair of boots and the father has a porcelain pipe. All are finely and colorfully dressed. Signed on side of cobblestone “L. Neustatter 1880”. Housed in a bronze gilt replacement frame. Partial Philadelphia Galleries label on back. Panel has stencil stamp “Brugger, Munchen”. SIZE: 17-1/4” x 12-1/2”.
