UNSIGNED (American, First half of the 19th Century) RIVER FERRY AND TOWN. Large pastel Hudson River type scene shows a large ferry manned by five men. One in blue outfit, the others in red and black, two holding guns. They are leaving a large dock area with two buildings, one being a post office. Two people are seen in large canoe, two people seen on shore, one fishing. A gap in the river shows a large town and church and farmhouse are seen on left bank. A two-mast sailboat is seen on right side of river. Unsigned. Nicely housed in a gilt carved wood frame with white matte. PROVENANCE: From a Gardiner, Maine home. SIGHT SIZE: 20” x 28”.
