WLADYSLAW SZERNER (Polish, 19th Century) STOPPING FOR A CONVERSATION. Fine oil on canvas scene shows Cossack in full regalia atop brown horse talking to a woman who is standing in the shadow of the horse, well outfitted for the cold weather. It is a winter scene with snow on the ground and snow on the rooftops of the houses that line the street. Signed lower left. Housed in a bronze gilt molded wood replacement frame with a Philadelphia Galleries partial label. A well detailed painting by an outstanding artist. We can not determine whether this is Sr. or Jr. SIZE: 16-1/2” x 13-1/2”. CONDITION: Craquelure, very good. Minor old restoration with one patch. 9-96530 (4,000-8,000)
