UNSIGNED (English, 19th Century) PORTRAIT OF MOTHER AND TWO CHILDREN. Outstanding large oil on canvas portrait shows young mother with black curly hair, black dress with red ribbon at neck supporting diamond shaped pearl pin. She holds young child on lap who is holding onto one of the shoes that is missing from foot. Outfitted in a blue dress. The other child stands wearing white dress with blue ribbons. Left side looks out window with landscape, right side has red curtain. Housed in a fabulous French style gesso decorated large frame. SIZE: 40” w x 50” h. CONDITION: Old relining with some restoration. Very good. 9-96397 (4,000-8,000)
