EMILE ALBERT GRUPPE (American, 1896-1978) “EARLY MORNING”. Oil on canvas scene shows several small boats tied to two wharfs with larger fishing boats in distance. Interesting green reflections are seen in water and mustard colored folded sails. Housed in a replacement gilt frame with rope type inner border. Pencil artist and titled on reverse. REFERENCE: A similar painting in scene, period, title and size that is unsigned is illustrated in Brush Work by Emile Gruppe and Charles Movalli on page 33. SIZE: 20” x 18”.
