EMILE A GRUPPE (American, 1896-1978) STUDY OF A LOBSTERMAN. Oil on board scene shows lobsterman seated on keg on wharf mending the net on a lobster trap. Bluish/gray background shows several boats and buildings. Unsigned but written on back “Study by My father, Authenticated by Robert Gruppe” in his hand. This figure is seen in several of Gruppe’s paintings. Housed in a gesso decorated bronze gilt wood frame. SIZE: 16” x 20”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-96759 (4,000-6,000)
