FINE PAIR OF MIXED METAL INLAID STIRRUPS. 18th century, Japan. Abumi with brass and silver inlay of floral scrolling. Lot accompanied by a letter from the Smithsonian Institute dated November 1, 1949. It is stated here that the stirrups were made by Ichibei Ujimasa, Kashu Province. Note: this also is attested to by an inlaid inscription at the front of each stirrup. SIZE: 9-1/2″ h x 11-1/2″ l. PROVENANCE: From the collection of Walter E. Heightshoe, Esq.
