PAUL BERNARD KING (American, 1867-1947) THE ICEMAN. Outstanding large oil on canvas winter scene shows an ice cutting operation on a lake in the middle of winter. Two large gray work horses pull a double runner sled being filled with large ice blocks by the Iceman. Two figures are seen cutting ice at edge of open area. Signed lower left “Paul King” and dated “1912”. An outstanding example from this fine artist. Signed on back of canvas and dated “1912”. Housed in its original fancy gesso decorated gilt frame. PROVENANCE: Fresh from a Maine home. SIZE: 32” x 40”. CONDITION: Craquelure, surface dirt. Will brighten up considerably with cleaning. Very good. 9-70314 (8,000-12,000)
