EXTREMELY SCARCE J & E STEVENS DENTIST MECHANICAL BANK. Choice examples in this condition rarely come to the market. Not only is this bank desirable, but also comical. One of the banks referred to as the “Pedestal Series” designed by Charles A. Bailey, this Dentist is using his strength to pull a molar from his black patient sitting in the chair. With great effort, he manages to yank the molar out, stumbling backward, falling back onto his gas bag as his patient falls head over heels backwards. This is complete with original gas bag and original paint. PROVENANCE: Massachusetts dentist’s collection where it has resided for the last 40+ years. SIZE: Base length 9 1/2″ l. CONDITION: Pristine with only a small area of paint loss on gas bag and a replaced spring on the underside. 1-6126 MC (20,000-25,000)
