UNSIGNED (American, 19th Century) PORTRAIT OF A BOY. Oil on canvas half portrait shows young boy with straight brown hair facing viewer wearing a black coat and white shirt. Housed in its original gilt frame. Frame has stencil signature “Patented by Hermon W. Ladd, New York 1868”. Portrait has very primitive style showing lack of detail in the hand. Hand and facial renderings suggest possibly Prior or his contemporaries. SIZE: 30” x 24”. CONDITION: Chips, scrapes and cracks in canvas. Needs restoration. 9-94146 (800-1,000)
