WONDERFUL EARLY NEW ENGLAND PINE PAINT DECORATED STEP-BACK DOLL CUPBOARD. Found recently in a Central Maine farm house, this wonderful step-back cupboard from the mid or early 19th Century features raised paneled doors above and below. The doors open to reveal interior shelves. Put together with old iron nails and all-over paint decorated. A base of white or cream with pumpkin orange on top which has been comb decorated. Made of soft wood–possibly pine and/or poplar. Accompanying this lot would be miscellaneous doll dishes and other small items that were found in the cupboard. SIZE: 16” h x 7-1/2” w x 5-1/2” d. CONDITION: As found, generally in very good condition. A small chip missing for perhaps over 100 years near the top of the façade. Paint generally strong and original throughout. Door hinges which are simply of pins are missing on two of the doors. 9-25597 (750-1,250)
