PRESENTATION SWORD OF LT. MATTHEW BYRNES, 96TH PENNSYLVANIA. High-grade Horstman 1850 pattern foot officer’s sword with engraved pewter grip, gold-washed guard and mountings. Fine rayskin scabbard with elaborate cast mountings and an oval presentation plaque with engraved presentation. The 96th saw much action, including Antietam, Chancellorsville, Fredricksburg, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Cold Harbor, and many other engagements. Blade etching is worn and blade has light scratches near tip, otherwise very good condition. 4-50236 (6000-8000)
