FREDERICK JOHN MULHAUPT (American, 1871-1938) “FISH AUCTION ON BEACH, ST. IVES, CORNWALL, ENG. Outstanding oil on board harbor scene shows a sandy beach with many people attending a fish auction. A large multi-mast fishing boat with two sails up is seen just off shore with another one beside. Seagulls fly over a light colored water with buildings and wharf behind. Signed lower right “Mulhaupt”. Housed in a gilt leaf decorated wood frame, which may be original. Back has title in black grease pencil. Also a partial label from the Thumb-box Exhibition with title and artist name, believed to be from the Salmagundi Club. SIZE: 8” x 10”.
