J & E STEVENS MAGICIAN MECHANICAL BANK. A stellar example infrequently found with almost all of the rarer yellow flocking intact on stairs. When the lever is depressed the magician lowers his hat onto the table, covering the coin. At which point, the trap opens, unbeknownst to the viewer, the coin slides under the table and into the magician’s legs, and is deposited into the stage area below. When hat is raised, it seems as though the coin has disappeared. PROVENANCE: Ex-Lloyd Ralston, private collection. SIZE: Base measures 6 1/4″ l. CONDITION: Pristine to near mint. This bank shows little to no wear to facial area, which is commonly chipped, and the attractive light blue staging area has almost all black lettering intact! 1-6123 MC (14,000-18,000)
