RICHMOND RIFLED MUSKET. About .61 Cal. 40” bbl, lock marked “CS/RICHMOND, VA”, rear of hammer marked “1863. Bbl marked “V” over “P” over eagle head, bands marked with “U”s, stock has “PFC” nicely carved. Brass buttplate and nosecap, ramrod is swelled. Bbl and rear sight are Springfield. Accompanied by letter from Damon Mills indicating that circular marks on bbl are indicative of Richmond Armory re-work. CONDITION: Metal and wood overall very good, with several dings in buttstock, 1” crack starting behind lockplate and 7” hairline crack on left side of forend at middle bbl band. Bands and nosecap have been cleaned. Lock and bbl has scattered light pitting overall. Mechanics are good. 4-50170 (6,500-7,500)
