FRENCH VIOLINIST AUTOMATON. Late 19th Century. Man dressed in medieval costume playing violin, wearing original costume of velvet and brocade with huge hat with plumes. The unmarked French bisque head has brown paperweight eyes. When wound, figure strums violin, moves head from side to side. Comes with antique glass dome with wooden base. SIZE: 15-1/2” (39 cm) overall (figure measures 14”). CONDITION: Overall near excellent, deterioration to costume on right arm. 1-5003 RS (5,000-7,000)
