MARTIALLY MARKED MODEL 1851 COLT REVOLVER. Cal. 36 Perc. Late 3rd type martial ’51 with 7-1/2” oct bbl, brass cone front sight with tiny “U.S.” below “COLT’S PATENT” with brass, small oval trigger guard and backstrap, 1-pc walnut grips with visible cartouches. There are tiny inspector initials on the various parts including the bottom of the grip. SN 78654. CONDITION: Extremely fine, all matching including the wedge. Bbl retains 88-90% bright glossy blue with the balance flaked to a light patina. The operating lever and hammer retain 75-80% bright case colors. The frame and hammer retain virtually all their original bright strong case colors, beginning to fade. The trigger guard and backstrap are a medium mustard patina and the grips are very sharp with the cartouches mostly legible. The cylinder retains about 90% thinning original blue and has about 98% Naval battle scene. All 6 of the safety pins are nearly intact. Strong bore with moderate pitting. 4-49277 JR392 (6,500-8,500)
