MARTIALLY MARKED COLT 3RD MODEL DRAGOON REVOLVER. Cal. 44 Perc. Usual configuration with 7-1/2” oct to round bbl, brass trigger guard and backstrap with 1-pc walnut grips. There is a tiny “U.S.” below “COLT’S PATENT” on the frame and inspector marks on the various parts. SN 11431. CONDITION: Fair to good, all matching including the wedge. No original finish remains with bbl and lug somewhat battered with moderate pitting. The frame and hammer are also moderately pitted. Overall retains a mottled dark brown patina. The trigger guard and grip frame are a medium mustard patina. The cylinder is a matching dark patina with scattered light rust and retains about 75% Indian fight scene. There is a large sliver missing from the left heel of the grips and it has a chipped right toe. The trigger bow is slightly dented. The wedge spring is missing and the wedge screw is a replacement. Strong bright bore with scattered pitting. 4-49935 JR420 (1,500-2,500)
