CHINESE SQUARE BACK ELM ARMCHAIR. 19th century, China. Curved cylindrical crest joined to conforming stiles centering serpentine backsplat, joined to shaped arms raised on undulating supports centering a rectangular plank seat with molded panel raised on straight legs joined by a rectangular double box stretcher. Frontal legs with shaped foot rest and with scalloped inner frame with incised leaf carving. SIZE: 41-1/2″ h of back x 24″ w overall, 20-1/2″ h of seat. CONDITION: Structurally good with traces of original red stain and with old surfaces and patina. 9-25898 (900-1,200)
