RARE PAIR OF AMBER WINE CUPS. 18th century, China. One carved in form of Buddha’s hand citron in foliage. Other carved as peach with flowers, foliage and a bat. SIZE: 1-1/4″ h x 2-3/4″ l. PROVENANCE: Consigned by the granddaughter of General & Mrs. William Crane. Originally belonging to both Lois Whitin Crane, wife of Brig. General William C. Crane of Leesburg, VA who were avid collectors of Japanese art & antiques. Together the lived in Japan with their three children while General Crane served as the Military Attaché to Japan from 1933-1937. General Crane served as a Commanding Officer & Chief of Staff on various assignments including the Allied Force Headquarters in Northern Africa & Italy, and retired after serving as the last Commanding Officer of Fort Devens, MA. CONDITION: Losses to side of Buddha’s hand cup. Chips to edge of peach cup. Otherwise very good. 7-72673 (800-1,200)
