RARE PINK JADE VASE.

RARE PINK JADE VASE. 18th century, China. Very rare color. Pink with russet areas. Elephant mask handles with bowstring marks. Surface carved in low relief with archaic dragons. SIZE: 3″ h. PROVENANCE: Consigned by the granddaughter of General & Mrs. William Crane. Originally belonging to both Lois Whitin Crane, wife of Brig. General William C. Crane of Leesburg, VA who were avid collectors of Japanese art & antiques. Together the lived in Japan with their three children while General Crane served as the Military Attaché to Japan from 1933-1937. General Crane served as a Commanding Officer & Chief of Staff on various assignments including the Allied Force Headquarters in Northern Africa & Italy, and retired after serving as the last Commanding Officer of Fort Devens, MA. CONDITION: Very good with fine coloration. Rough area to foot rim. 7-72679 (400-600)
