JADEITE & DIAMOND NECKLACE. Necklace is comprised of round jadeite beads ranging from 3.8mm to 8.8mm diameter. Necklace is finished with an 18kt (tested) white gold clasp set with a center emerald cut diamond measuring 4mm x 5mm. Center diamond is flanked on either side by three single cut diamonds which are in turn bordered by two calibre cut diamonds. Necklace is accompanied by a Gemological Institution of America identification report stating that all 101 of the jadeite beads were tested and are found to be of natural color with no indications of impregnation. It also states the color of the beads is variegated green with translucent transparency. GIA Report #2145747899. The clasp hallmarked Paris, 19th/20th Century. SIZE: 26″ l. PROVENANCE: Consigned by the granddaughter of General & Mrs. William Crane. Originally belonging to both Lois Whitin Crane, wife of Brig. General William C. Crane of Leesburg, VA who were avid collectors of Japanese art & antiques. Together the lived in Japan with their three children while General Crane served as the Military Attaché to Japan from 1933-1937. General Crane served as a Commanding Officer & Chief of Staff on various assignments including the Allied Force Headquarters in Northern Africa & Italy, and retired after serving as the last Commanding Officer of Fort Devens, MA.
