FINE RHINOCEROS HORN CUP ON STAND. 17th/18th century, China. Surface of cup deeply carved in relief of a mountainous landscape of conifers, two trunks forming the handle. A crane carved in flight. Interior additionally carved with conifer at narrow end. Now mounted in a later hardwood stand of conifers, rockwork and scrolling waves. Surfaces manifesting a warm honey color throughout. WEIGHT: 170 grams. SIZE: Cup: 4″ h x 3″ w x 5” l. Overall: 5″ h. CONDITION: Lip possibly polished with minor edge chips and tiny hairline cracks. 9-25582 JC (150,000-225,000)
