NORTHERN WEI STYLE STONE CARVING. 5th century AD, China, probably of the period. Nicely carved crowned stone head of a Buddha fitted to a conforming hardwood frame mounted to a rosewood base. SIZE: Head: 13-1/2″ h x 5-1/2″ w x approx 2-3/4″ d. Overall: 22-1/4″ h. PROVENANCE: Ex. Eu Tong Sen/Jenny Eu Collection. CONDITION: Head generally fine with normal and expected shallow chips commensurate with age. Frame also good, pedestal base in need of cosmetic repair to holder. 7-72968 (300-500)
