UNIQUE AND RARE JADE COMPOSITION LAMP ATTRIBUTED TO EDWARD I. FARMER. 1920-30, New York. Jade elements, 18th/19th century, China. Shade composed of 4 white jades in the form of immortals, additionally set with 8 carved and pierced floral panels, all set within gilt carved scrolling floral framework. Mounted to the base with a figural jade finial of child and adult. Base designed with a white jade perfume cylinder and cover forming the shaft. Platform base made from jade bowl of spinach color beneath a white jade disc, the scrolled gilt legs, each capped with a white jade buckle alternating with four carved and pierced panels, all set in carved gilt wood. SIZE: 28″ h. PROVENANCE: Ex-collection Edsel Ford. Acquired from a gallery in Detroit, Michigan, circa 1946 by descent through the family of the current owner. CONDITION: Generally very good. Foliate carved white jade cap with old repair. Some losses to gilding. 9-25588 (20,000-30,000)
