COLT MASSACHUSETTS MARKED MARTIAL 2ND MODEL DRAGOON. Cal. 44 Perc. Scarce Mass militia martial dragoon with 7-1/2” oct to round bbl, German silver front sight, 1-line address, small “U.S.” under the Colt’s patent under the frame and the outline of cartouches on each side of the 1-pc walnut grips. It has small inspector marks on various parts and a large “MS” just in front of the trigger guard. SN 10247. CONDITION: Fine plus, all matching including the wedge. No original finish remains, being a light silver patina over all the iron surfaces. The trigger guard and backstrap are a light mustard patina, having been cleaned a long time ago. The cylinder retains 50-60% of its original scene with all six pins mostly intact. Grips are sound and fine with the partially legible cartouche visible on the left side and mostly legible cartouche on the right side. The bore is strong with good shine and moderate pitting. 4-49135 (17,500-22,500)
