HARRY G. AITKEN (American, 1867-1952) “LATE AFTERNOON SUNLIGHT”. Oil on canvas scene in pastel colors shows checkered hillside with cultivated fields, sloping to light blue body of water. Large trees line fields. Signed lower left “H.G. Aitken 41”. Attached to back stretcher is an annual exhibit label from the Syracuse Museum of Art with title and artist. Aitken was a designer and head of the Decorating Department for the Onondaga Pottery Company (now Syracuse China). He studied with John Carlson, H. Lee Ross and William Lester Stevens. Housed in a good molded wood gold frame. SIZE: 20” x 24”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-25601 (400-800)
