EMILE ALBERT GRUPPE (American, 1896-1978) “BASS ROCKS, GLOUCESTER”. Colorful oil on board coastal scene shows grass covered rocks and blue ocean with waves breaking on rocks. Housed in a fine gilt arts and crafts carved replacement frame. Titled on back and inscribed “To Our Friend, Wayne Morrill From Andy And Florence Metz”. REFERENCE: This painting was used to show a step by step demonstration of how Gruppe paints a marine subject. This is illustrated on page 119 through 123 in the book “Gruppe on Color” by Emile A.
