MANNER OF CANALETTO (Italian, 19th Century) VENICE. Signed oval oil on board scene showing a gondola in front of a large group of buildings and tall tower, under a blue sky, Wonderful colors in sky and water. On the back of the board is pencil titled “Venice” and “Original sketch by A. Sricker?” A label on the reverse of Philpot & Jackson, Florence. The framing backboard has Christie’s catalogue number tag “77 29 Mar 1990”. Also, a Rowley Gallery London label. Housed in a modern, gesso decorated frame with gilt matt. SIZE: 8 1/2” x 10 1/2” CONDITION: Inpainting around edges. Very good. 9-72589 (1,000-2,000)
