SCARCE ANTIQUE ORIGINAL BARBER OR DENTAL CHAIR. This early reclining barber or dental chair dates to around 1865-1875. it is made of walnut and retains the original black horse hair upholstery. It is adjustable and has an adjustable metal mechanism on the side that allows the chair to recline. Once in fully reclined position, a hidden footrest will swing out. The walnut frame with carved scroll embellishments on the side. SIZE: 48″h (to the top of the back) x 25″w. CONDITION: Horse hair upholstery on front in generally very good condition with a couple of small breaks. Upholstery on the back has pulled away in a few places, as has the original rubbing on the underside.
