ENGLISH STERLING SILVER MONUMENTAL CHALICE. London, 1884-5. Maker’s hallmark “JA” over “TS”. The over-sized chalice having a round, dome base decorated with angled leaves leading to a bulbous and tapered stem holding a large tapered cup with a 5″ band reposse scene of frolicking horses with an oval inscription cartouche which is blank. WEIGHT: 30.8 Troy Oz. SIZE: 13″ high, top rim 7″ dia. CONDITION: Some dimples and, at the base, there is the faintest outline of a previous inscription. 9-26018 (1,000-1,500)
