OUTSTANDING ENGLISH STERLING SILVER FISHING TROPHY BY JAMES DIXON & SON. Sheffield, 1861-2. The fabulous covered loving-cup style trophy having a fishing motif incorporated in both cup and cover. The cup uses two 6-1/2″ pike as handles held by spread-winged eagles. The fancy cup having repousse garlands of flowers on the tapered body and a base with c-scrolls and leaves with an outermost bead edge. The removable cover having two cast fishermen, one presenting a fish to a fisherman standing holding a fishing rod. The naturalistic ground has fishing creel, minnow bucket and three fish. SIZE: 14-1/4″ high x 9″ wide. CONDITION: No inscriptions. Very good. The top two figures have fastening nuts missing. 9-26017 (2,500-4,000)
