EMILE ALBERT GRUPPE (American, 1896-1978) “VERMONT COVERED BRIDGE”. Large oil on canvas winter scene shows a covered bridge crossing a small river. Snow and forest covered hills are seen beyond with a fence lined road. Signed lower right “Emile A. Gruppe”. Housed in a fine carved and gilt wood frame with title and artist plaque. Titled and signed in black marker on back stretcher. A nice New England winter scene by this Rockport/Gloucester School artist. PROVENANCE: A private Pennsylvania Collection. SIZE: 30” x 36”.
