THE ROBERT D. SMITH COLLECTION OF ORIGINAL, EDITORIAL/POLITICAL CARTOONS FROM THE 1940s. This fabulous collection was amassed during the war years by Mr. Robert D. Smith of Bangor, Maine. He would write a particular artist requesting an example of their original work and in many cases Mr. Smith would receive a letter accompanied by an original work. Some are inscribed to Mr. Smith, and some are accompanied by the original letter, or the newspaper in which the artwork was published. Artists include: G.Brown, Edmund Gale, Charles Werner, Vaughn Richard Shoemaker(2), Cy Hungerford, Reg. Manning, Bruce Russell (2), Cecil Jensen, Harry Bressler, Bill Warren, Paul Garmack, R.A. Lewis, Fred O. Scibel (2), S.J.Ray, Bill Geagan, TH. Burbank, Vic Runtz, Ed Marcus (2), Will B. Johnstone, Daniel Bishop, Loring Brown (2), Gene Elderman, Fitzpatrick and more.
