UNIQUE PARQUETRY CARPENTER’S TOOL CHEST LID. Late 19th century. This exceptional example with the initials “CD” in the center within a series of parquet borders flanked by vertical oval patera within a stylized zigzag border further within the outer band of repeating parquetry panels of various geometric shapes, 5-pointed stars within rondels at the corners, a folk art rendering of the American flag at the midpoint of each side, a patriotic shield at center top and bottom. The whole rendered with a vast selection of exotic hard woods. SIZE: Overall: 22-1/2″ h x 38-1/2″. CONDITION: Structurally very good with mellow tones. 9-25568 (800-1,200)
