WALDOBORO HOOKED RUG TOGETHER WITH A FLORAL EXAMPLE. Early 20th century. The Waldoboro rug with a central medium brown medallion centering a raised floral spray within a raised border of C-scrolled leaf tips in beige and brown, all within a chocolate brown field, each end with raised crossed floral branches. The second example with a central polychrome floral spray within a geometric stepped striated border within wine red, pink and brown scrolled spandrels. The whole on a gray ground. SIZE: Waldoboro: 5′ 4″ x 2′ 7″. Other: 3′ 9″ x 2′ 2″. CONDITION: The Waldoboro with many small areas of repair in central medallion. 4″ x 6″ stain with deterioration of rug in center. Area in need of major restoration. Second example faded overall, but in good physical condition. 9-20990 (250-400)
