HEPPLEWHITE STYLE PAINTED DECORATED SETTEE. First quarter 20th century. Decorated overall in Adams style, the two seat caned settee with rectangular back paint decorated overall with Classical urn emitting scrolling floral vinery. Two caned back panels above a section carved and paint decorated with scrolling bowtied tassels centering an oval patera decorated with putti carrying a Classical torch. Downswept arms, floral decorated, on baluster supports centering trapezoidal cane seat, raised on square tapering legs terminating in tapering pointed feet. SIZE: 33-1/2″ h of back x 45″ l x 19″ d. CONDITION: Structurally very good. Painted surfaces intact, hand caning intact. With shallow chips at top of proper front left leg. Minor abrasions throughout. 9-25871 (700-900)
