BERNARD KARFIOL (American, 1886-1952) “THE POND IN THE WOODS”. Oil on canvas scene shows a pond visited by two nude bathers. Large trees and colorful foliage surround water. Signed lower left “B Karfiol”. Housed in a wide ripple carved ogee type frame. Titled and signed on stretcher. Also a label from Marbella Gallery, New York with artist, title and date Circa 1934. An auction label on reverse indicates the provenance as Dorothy Varian. SIZE: 12” x 18”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-27215 (1,500-2,500)
