CHARLES HENRY ALSTON (American, 1907-1977) “MY BROTHERS”. Oil on canvas scene shows a portrait of two black men against a backdrop of buildings. One wears a blue coat, the other wears a red coat. Titled and signed on reverse of canvas. Also Chicago 1930. Unsigned front. Charles Alston was a teacher and artist and also directed the Harlem Art Workshop during the Great Depression. Housed in a carved arts and crafts style gilt frame. SIZE: 24” x 20”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-27612 (2,000-4,000)
