TWO NEW ENGLAND BANNISTER BACK SIDE CHAIRS. Second half 18th century. First with double arched and scalloped crestrail above 4 split bannister splats joined to turned stiles with mushroom finials, trapezoidal woven seat joined by double box stretchers. Second with downcurved crestrail joined by 3 molded rectangular splats flanked by baluster turned stiles joined to trapezoidal woven seat, turned cylindrical legs joined by double box stretchers. SIZE: First: 41-1/2″ h of back, 16″ h of seat. Second: 39″ h of back, 15-1/2″ h of seat. CONDITION: Both in old black paint. First with peg repair on proper right front leg.
