BURNSIDE 4TH MODEL CARBINE. Cal .54. 21” round bbl. Faint cartouches on the left side of the stock. Marked “BURNSIDE RIFLE Co. / PROVIDENCE = R.I.” on the lockplate. There are no markings on the breech block or receiver. This carbine was issued to Samuel T. Martin of Co. C, 2nd IL Cavalry. This record is in the Order Book in the National Archives Record Group 94. SN 1251. CONDITION: Gray brown patina with light to moderate pitting overall. Several small slivers are missing along the forearm and there are dents and scratches. A number 46 has been stamped in the trigger plate. Action is good. 4-49786 FS150 (2,000-3,000)
