TWO PIERCED BRASS FIREPLACE FENDERS TOGETHER WITH TWO PAIR OF BRASS ANDIRONS. Mid 19th Century. English and American. Each large fender with pierced, scrolling, foliate lattice work on a molded plinth. Sold together with a pair of early, 19th Century brass ball-top andirons, each with a knopped finial, a mid-banded ball on a turned shaft, raised on cabriole legs with double spurs, terminating in pointed pad feet. The second pair with mid-banded ball tops, on a turned shaft raised on spurred cabriole legs and terminating in pointed feet. SIZE: Fender 1) 11″h x 52″w x 18-1/2″d. Fender 2) 8-1/4″h x 59″w x 12″d. Andirons 1) 16″h x 20″d (overall). Andirons 2) 14-1/2″h x 18″d (overall). PROVENANCE: Estate of Nancy H. Woods, Boothbay, Maine. CONDITION: The fenders highly polished, very good overall with slight bending of frames. The first pair of andirons, dogs slightly misshapen but functional.
