CARVED EIDER DECOY. 20th century. This example carved in two parts. The accentuated beak and arched neck of the head joined to the body which is carved from the solid and has a nicely upturned tail. Double brand of the owner’s initials on the underside. The decoy also has two leather straps nailed to the bottom as a preventative for further separation of a large shrinkage crack. SIZE: 9″ h x 15-1/2″ l. CONDITION: Paint showing wear from normal usage. Structurally very good. Shrinkage crack as previously described. The head being a replacement. 9-20689 (1,500-2,500)
