TWO BOWBACK WINDSOR SIDE CHAIRS. Late 18th century. The first with hoop back and six spindles joined to a shaped plank seat raised on swelled cylindrical splayed legs joined by an H-form stretcher. The second with hoop back and five spindles in old crackled brown and white paint. The shaped plank seat raised on swelled splayed cylindrical legs joined by an H-form stretcher. SIZE: First: 35″ h of back, 17″ h of seat. Second: 35-1/2″ h of back, 16-1/2″ h of seat. CONDITION: Both chairs retain old surfaces. The first structurally very good. The painted example with one spindle broken at crestrail. Otherwise good. 9-20761 (300-400)
