NICE ORIENTAL CARVED CASED CHESS SET. First quarter 20th century. The custom made set housed in its original game board case. The hinged case opening to a silk lined compartmented interior housing 32 carved ivory figures; a full complement of chess figures. Each of varying size, all hand carved and accented with incised black features. All figures nicely rendered with good detail. Exterior of case in burl walnut and simulated ebony forming a game board for the enclosed players. SIZE: 6″ h x 30″ x 15″. CONDITION: Figures in overall very good condition with only slight damages. Case with weathered exterior in need of restoration. 9-20670 (2,000-4,000)
