Reference: Currier & Ives Checklist by Conningham, No. 981. Above print in margin “Compliments of Milliken, Tomlinson Co., Portland, ME”. The bottom legend “The Champion Trotting Stallion Nelson, By Young Rolfe, Dam Gretchen by Gideon, Bread, Owned and Driven by C. H. Nelson, Waterville, Maine”, below which is inscribed with tracks and record times. Hinge mounted at top to new matte. Housed in a decorative modern frame. SIZE: 25-1/4″ x 31-1/2″. PROVENANCE: From a fine Waterville, Maine home. CONDITION: No tears into image, some small losses at bottom right corner and small nick with 1″ tear in bottom margin. Toned/foxing with acid vertical lines and some water stains to sides and bottom edge. 9-98360 (600-900)
