AMERICAN EMPIRE MAHOGANY SECRETARY DESK. Circa 1850. In two parts, the ogee molded cornice projecting above the rectangular upper case fitted with a pair of 9-lite panel doors opening to an interior of a single shelf and two drawers, all above the frieze fitted with a pair of aligned drawers, stepped back and fitted to the lower case having a folding hinged lid supported by lopers, the interior baise-lined writing surface. The case with three long drawers flanked by shaped and incurved pilasters continuing to rolled frontal feet. The back legs turned. SIZE: 72″ h x 41″ w of case, 47″ w overall, 21″ d. PROVENANCE: Estate of Nancy H. Woods, Boothbay, Maine. CONDITION: Desk retains all original surfaces and hardware. Minor veneer damages throughout. Overall very good. 9-20904 (400-600)
