UNUSUAL WALNUT MARQUETRY HANGING PLATE RACK. Second half 19th century, Continental. The top shelf crossbanded and with scalloped frieze above two shelves, each with double plate guards, with candy cane string inlay above a scalloped and shaped frieze applied with brass pot hooks cast with human figures alternating with marquetry floral swags. The scalloped side supports with floral marquetry. SIZE: 36″ h x 59″ w x 6″ d overall. PROVENANCE: From the “Harp House” of Camden, Maine. CONDITION: Shelf retains original surfaces. No restorations noted. Very good overall. 9-26850 (400-600)
