UNIQUE GOTHIC REVIVAL CARVED BIRD’S-EYE MAPLE BED. Second half 19th Century. American. This fine example with three panel headboard, each surmounted with arched Gothic cresting with S and C-scrolled foliate molding. The central panel with simple carved floral sprig joined to heavy cylindrical blocked posts with exaggerated turned finials. The foot board with short conforming posts centering a simple narrow panel. Offered with original bed rails. SIZE: 73″ overall h, 58-1/2″ external w, 53″ interior w, 88″ overall l, 78″ interior l.
